Trust & safety

Parents trust it with their children. That’s the point.

Safety isn’t a setting you switch on. It’s the default everywhere on Circles — designed in from the first line of code.

COPPA & FERPA aligned

Built for families, reviewed by experts.

How we protect kids

Six layers, always on.

Child-safe by default

Minor data is masked in every public surface unless a guardian explicitly consents.

Never an exact address

Locations snap to a ~1 km grid. A child’s home is never exposed on the map.

Verified hosts

Identity confirmed via Stripe Identity, with manual review as a fallback.

Guardian oversight

Approvals for joins, bookings and messaging, with notifications throughout.

Report anything

Every post, profile and message can be reported and is reviewed within SLA.

Server-side permissions

Access is enforced on the server, not hidden in the UI. Defense in depth.

FAQ

Your questions about safety.

How is my child’s data protected?

We follow COPPA and FERPA. Minor identities are anonymized in public views, and exact ages, last names and avatars are masked unless a guardian consents.

What does ‘verified host’ mean?

It means identity was confirmed through Stripe Identity. We never imply a background check unless one is genuinely on file.

Can my child message anyone?

Only contacts you allow. You set messaging to open, guardian-approval-required, or blocked per child — and you’re notified of minor messages.
